It’s well known that getting the recommend amount of slumber, you’ll spend almost one-third of your life sleeping. It may seem a lot, but getting enough sleep during the night you will be productive and energetic the next day.
On the other hand, if you have troubles getting a peaceful and nourishing slumber, such as most Americans, you must act immediately in order not to affect your emotional and physical health. Sleep disorders may affect, in a negative way, your memory, concentration and mood, leading to anxiety and depression.
Just so you know, there are five stages of sleep that rotate between non-rapid eye movement (NREM) and rapid eye movement (REM) and include drowsiness, light sleep, moderate to deep sleep, deepest sleep, and dreaming.
Actually, two years ago I suffered from insomnia which affected pretty badly my emotional health which lead to anxiety. In order to control my emotional mind I visited for almost a year a therapist. But, to control my sleep disorder, mom came visiting and helped me sleep better due to her Homemade Sleep Salve which I applied every evening on my soles, before going to bed.
How To Make Your Own Sleep Salve
- 1 cup of organic virgin coconut oil
- 1 cup of organic extra virgin olive oil
- 4 tablespoons of beeswax pastilles
- 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin E oil
- 20 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
- 40 drops ginger essential oil
- 40 drops peppermint essential oil
- 40 drops lemon essential oil
- 40 drops grapefruit essential oil
Melt the coconut, olive oil, and beeswax in a double boiler, stirring every few minutes until melted. This will take almost 10 – 15 minutes. It’s advisable to let it melt slowly.
While the wax is melting, prepare some small containers.
When the beeswax mixture is completely melted and well mixed, add the vitamin E oil and stir well. Then add the essential oils and stir again. Pour the mixture into the small containers and let it cool.
Cover each jar with an airtight lid after the salve has set. Shelf life is approximately 8 months.
How To Use Your Sleep Salve
After you’ve climbed into bed, apply this sleeping salve to the bottom of both feet and massage until it gets deep into the skin. The large pores of the feet allow the oil to absorb pretty quickly.
