What Causes Pain In The Right Side Of The Abdomen?

There are several causes of pain on the right side of the abdomen. You may have a kidney affection, appendicitis or pancreatic disorder, but it may also indicate a broken rib or hip.

One of the possible causes of pain in the right abdominal side is bladder disorders, such as gallstones. Patients with this problem have symptoms such as yellowish skin, fever and pain in the right upper abdominal side or middle abdomen.

4. Gases
Often, pain on the right abdominal side is caused by indigestion or constipation.

5. Appendicitis
Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix and is the main cause of pain in the lower right side of the abdomen. This can affect people of all ages, but it is more common among people with ages between 10 and 30.
The first symptom is a pain in the upper right side of the abdomen which then moves to the lower right abdominal side. If you touch the lower right abdominal area, you will feel acute pain.
If you have appendicitis, you may also have other symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite or diarrhea. In this case, it is advisable to reach to ER immediately.

6. Pancreatitis
The pancreas is located below the liver, behind the stomach. Certain conditions of this organ, such as cancer or pancreatitis may trigger pain in the right abdominal side.

7. Inguinal hernia
The hernia surgeries are very common and are performed to prevent the herniated strangulation. Due to its positioning, the hernia can cause abdominal pain in the right abdominal side and sensitivity to touch. This condition also causes frequent nausea and vomiting.

8. Kidney problems
Infections in the bladder or in any other part of the urinary tract can spread to the kidney area, causing inflammation and pain. The pain is located in the right abdominal side and can extend later in the back area.

9. Colon disorders
The upper part of the colon is located on the right side of the abdomen, being the last section of the digestive tract. Pain may occur as a result of intestinal inflammation, such as colitis, irritable bowel syndrome or Crohn’s disease.

10. Ovarian cysts
Ovarian cysts are small structures found on the surface or inside the ovary. If they are too big or break, they can cause pain.
