First, I’d like to begin with a lip balm recipe because it will be a great start to learn the procedure for the lipstick. These are softer and great for healing chapped lips, or for just keeping your lips healthy. This first recipe has cocoa or shea butter and makes a bit of a harder stick. You can also mix and match your oils to create your own specialty lip balm. Get more ideas and keep reading.
Homemade Lipstick & Lip Balm Recipe
For this recipe to be perfect, you will need the following ingredients:
– 1 tsp. beeswax
– 2 tsp. cocoa butter
– 1 tsp. sweet almond oil
– 5 drops peppermint or lavender essential oil
Now, remember you could have options if you want to add some color to your lip balm. Thus, if you want to get a little bit of red, you could also add ¼ teaspoon of beetroot juice. This will give you a nice color to your lip balm and your lips will look fresh and juicy.
Now, for brown, cool tones, you will need to add ¼ teaspoon of cocoa powder, a tiny pinch of cinnamon or turmeric to get the shade you want. Tasty, isn’t it? You won’t be able to stay away from this lip balm.
Also, if you are looking for a more matte texture, you could add ¼ teaspoon bentonite clay. Use this with a color so it doesn’t leave a white tint on the lips.
Thus, now that you have all the information and ingredients, let’s prepare it. Gently melt all ingredients together on low heat, add your choice of colorant. Then remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes, when you can also add your favorite essential oil. Using a syringe is the best method to pour the mixture into lip balm tubes or old containers. That’s it? Isn’t it easy and delicious? Let’s move on to the lipstick, it gets even better!
For a perfect homemade lipstick, you will replace the sweet almond oil with coconut oil. Because you need to lipstick to last more during the day, this is a better option which will also hydrate your lips. Also, my favorite essential oil to use for this lipstick is peppermint oil. Personally, I like this best because it will increase the blood flow in your lips making them plumper and even fuller. I love making this. Try it out and let me know how everything worked out.
